Stompgrip Adhesion promoter primer 1-er

Increases the grip of the Stompgrip Traction Pads, especially on plastic surfaces.

The primer can be used to improve adhesion on surfaces such as polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS, 
PET compounds, concrete, wood, glass, metal and painted metal surfaces.

We recommend using the Primer Sticks when treating vehicles to encourage the strongest possible 
bond between the Stompgrip Traction Pads and the surfaces the pads are applied to, 
particularly along the edges.

Assembly on plastic parts:

We want to remind you about the proper pretreatment of unpainted surfaces. The 3M adhesive tape only reaches maximum hold when uneven surfaces are first prepared with the designated 3M primer.

Depending on the motorcycle model, tank pads are sometimes applied to unpainted plastic parts or textured surfaces. In these cases, it is absolutely necessary to treat the affected areas with the 3M primer before assembly.

When the traction pads are stuck onto unpainted plastic parts or other textured surfaces. If no adhesive promoter is used, the pads may come off. In our experience, one stick of the adhesive promoter is enough for an area of about 30 cm x 10 cm (300 cm²).

Assembly instructions:

Cleaning: First of all, it’s really important to clean the surface with a suitable cleaning agent. We recommend a classic cleaner from the automotive sector. It’s important that the cleaner doesn’t contain any additives (shine, wax, sealant). After the initial cleaning, it’s advisable to thoroughly wipe the surface with isopropanol (alcohol) (please check plastics for compatibility beforehand!)

Stop: Now the surface is perfectly clean. Before sticking the pads down completely, 
you should first align them and, for example, secure them with masking tape.  
Prepare: To ensure optimal adhesion, the 3M surface primer must be used. 
It can be applied to any surface. For unpainted plastic parts or other textured 
surfaces, its use is mandatory. Depending on the outside temperature, 
the primer needs to dry for about 15-30 minutes after application.

Sticking on: To make the pads easier to stick, you can gently warm them on 
the heater or with a hairdryer. Please don’t use a hot air gun! Then, 
the traction pads are applied step by step in a shaded area. Start on one side 
and work your way over in small steps. Gradually peel off the backing 
and press the pad down firmly. Pay extra attention with transparent pads 
to avoid visible air bubbles. Finally, press the traction pads down 
once more with strong pressure.

Done: To make sure the glue bonds well with the surface, you shouldn’t 
put any pressure on the pads. After 24 hours, the pads are ready to use.
